American Insure-All® would like to share some basic information with you, let’s call this article Mount Vernon/Burlington car insurance 101.

Car insurance can be confusing, especially if it is your first time to purchase a policy. Sometimes, you purchase something that you know you must have and you don’t really think about it – car insurance can be one of those things. We’d like to demystify the various kinds of insurance.

The most basic car insurance is Liability, sometimes called uninsured motorist. This basic policy covers damages that your car does to others. This is the insurance required in most states.

The next step up is a type of insurance often referred to as Collision. This will not only pay damages on the other party’s vehicle, it will provide (after you pay the deductible) for damages to your vehicle as well.

There is another sort of insurance that you can add to your basic policy, and that is no-fault injury. This pays medical costs for people if they are part of an accident involving your car or truck.

Finally, there is Full Coverage, which not only pays damages incurred during an accident, but also takes care of things like hail, skidding into a side rail during bad weather or other damages to your vehicle. This is usually required by your lending institution if you are making payments on your vehicle.
